Even if the mounting pad is cast on an angle, you could easily fabricate a wedge spacer or machine it flat (even crudely with a grinder). So yes, if you use the original Camaro/Firebird shifter, it will be crooked when the trans is mounted straight, but that's the shifter, not the tail housing. It's 2000 miles away in storage, so don't have any access to it. Unfortunately, you can't see the tailshaft mounting pad - I *think* it's level with a wedge spacer, but happy to be proven wrong on that. In the pic, the shifter is all the way left (when viewed from the driver's seat). Here's a pic of a T5 & bellhousing out of an F-body with a V6 - you can see the shifter housing on the tailshaft is inline with the top of the trans & the shifter is bent. nobody said it would be easy! Nothing has been easy on this build so far, so why stop now!Ĭlick to expand. The shifter HANDLE is the only thing that is bent - the shifter tower is straight up & down. Guess I didn't have my facts straight before I ordered this thing. This is a problem I didn't expect to encounter. Not sure I trust myself with this anyway. Since the back of the plate has huge countersinks in it, I will probably leave it to a machine shop to handle. It's looking like the holes will just have to be indexed and drilled. Obviously I'm not going to cock this transmission to one side, so as Scotty the man mentioned, I'll have to have it machined (maybe do it myself) or if RS Gear will exchange the plate (which I have a feeling they don't carry) then I'll be okay and that would be the best option. I realize this is repetative info, but just wanted to explain why I'm doing this. Here's a rear view just for the sake of showing you. This is the orientation that I get with the pattern of the T5 interface that gets mouted to the transmission: Looking at the adapter from the front, this is the orientation it needs to be: I just showed the lower bell of the Hemi block since it's tucked away right now. anyway so here's what the adapter looks like. PAT IS A RULER!!! THANK YOU PAT!!! He took the time to sit down with me and figure things out as well as address some other details of the build!! The Hemi I'm running is one of those silly little extended bell Hemis.
